Noteish is a fast, native scratchpad and lightweight, modern alternative to TextEdit for writing quick notes, opening plain-text files, and making edits without a heavy workspace.
What Noteish does
Noteish is a lightweight, modern native Mac scratchpad for quick notes, copied text, code, logs, and data that should open quickly.
Open a new document for temporary text, ideas, copied content, and scratch notes that need to stay close while you work.
A calm place for the small things.
Turn on Auto Paste to append new copied text with your chosen separator, or pin a window on top so an important note stays visible above other apps.
Keep the next thought close at hand.
Assign your own keyboard shortcuts to enabled quick actions, so the commands you use most stay fast and familiar.
Your workflow, your key combinations.
Create, open, save, reopen recent documents, and find text in TXT, TEXT, LOG, JSON, XML, YAML/YML, HTML/HTM, Markdown, CSV/TSV, CRT, PEM, and KEY files. All open as plain text, so your source stays directly editable.
Your files stay plain and portable.
Copy an entire document, remove empty lines, and optionally show character, word, and line statistics. Settings and Remove Empty Lines are available from the window’s context menu and can also be added to the toolbar.
Small actions that keep text tidy.
Start with a compact window and a simple toolbar for Copy, Auto Paste, and Pin. Choose automatic, light, or dark appearance, adjust the editor font and size, and enable or reorder quick actions. Customize your Dock icon and menu-bar visibility, with access to open notes, recent documents, New, and Open from the menu bar.
Make the editor fit your everyday workflow.
A focused alternative
When you need a quick note or a small plain-text edit, Noteish gives you a focused native Mac workspace. It opens the files you already use, stays out of the way, and adds practical tools for a scratchpad workflow.
